A man who spiked sweets with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two children aged between nine and ten.
The accused was arrested after eight minors and one adult became sick at Stathern Lodge in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.
However, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was kept in jail ahead of a further hearing on late November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
The man played a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were settling down and request they to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She told the court the man had played this game with the boys "over an extended period", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She said the man had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, justifiably.
"They resolved" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and medical needles were located, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.
She stated the man continued to play the "sweet game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The prosecutor said the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the stepson notified the police a second time.
She stated Ruben then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five minors.
